In a previous study, authors showed experimentally the correlation between leakage magnetic flux density and irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking susceptibility of high purity model austenitic stainless steels. This study aimed to investigate mechanism of the correlation. Tensile test at elevated temperature and aging test were conducted on materials simulating irradiation-induced segregation, and leakage magnetic flux density was measured before and after these tests in order to study the influence of chemical composition change and lattice defect to leakage magnetic flux density. Furthermore, dependency of magnetic moment on chemical composition and vacancy was evaluated by first principle calculation. As result, it was shown that leakage magnetic flux density of irradiated materials is thought to increase in severe irradiation-induced segregation region with and without vacancy.

These commentary provides outline of ITER project, ITER Vacuum Vessel design and topics of electro-magnetic design. The author has joined ITER project for over 10 years and been involved in the Vacuum Vessel design and technical development. Based on the experience, the author tries to express topical issues about structural design and assessment of electro-magnetic load from the view point of systematization. Therefore, characteristics of the electro-magnetic load, difference from pressure, and issues on application of existing design method are clarified comparing with pressure vessel design.

As a part efforts to establish a passive nondestructive testing method using leakage magnetic field, the magnetic charges caused by mechanical damages are reconstructed in this paper from measured leakage field date with use of methods in deterministic category.Concerning the bad condition number of this typical ill-posed inverse problem,an optimization approach is adopted for solving the unknown magnetic parameters in which the designation of initial profiles, weight coefficients and total number of iterations were taken as means of regularization. Moreover, for improving robustness against noise, a Galerkin procedure with base function chosen as the Daubiches'wavelet isalso introduced for discretizing the governing equations.Reconstruction with the proposed methods is practically practically
